The Hawaii Public Utilities Commission approved an agreement that would transfer ownership of 120,000 utility poles from Hawaiian Telcom to Hawaiian Electric. Hawaiian Electric would assume sole ownership of the jointly owned poles on Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and Hawaii island. The agreement aims to administer a more efficient and effective servicing of pole infrastructure, which includes the removal of 14,000 double poles and the implementation of evolving wireless networks.
