Notice of Public Informational Meetings – Hawaiian Electric Companies’ Wildfire Mitigation Plans (Docket No. 2025-0156)

The State of Hawaiʻi Public Utilities Commission (“Commission”) is hosting two public meetings for Hawaiian Electric Companies (“Hawaiian Electric”) to provide information about its Wildfire Mitigation Plan (“WMP”) and future plans to improve grid resilience. Members of the public will also have an opportunity to provide comments on Hawaiian Electric’s WMP. The PUC will hold a separate meeting to address Kauai Island Utility Cooperative’s (KIUC) WMP at another date. The public meetings regarding Hawaiian Electric’s WMP will be held as follows:

  1. April 23, 2025: Comments welcome from Oʻahu and Statewide stakeholders;
  2. April 24, 2025: Comments welcome from Maui, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi and Hawaiʻi Island stakeholders.

Written Comments

Members of the public may submit written comments referencing “Hawaiian Electric WMP Statewide Meeting” and Docket No. 2025-0156:

Comments submitted at least 48 hours in advance will be provided to the Commissioners prior to the meeting. Late comments will be accepted and distributed as soon as practicable. All comments will be publicly accessible through the Commission’s Case and Document Management System (CDMS) by searching “2025-0156”.

No Adjudication

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with the opportunity to comment. The PUC will not be making any decisions on Hawaiian Electric’s WMP today. Interested members of the public may follow the PUC’s review of Hawaiian Electric’s WMP online by navigating to https://hpuc.my.site.com/cdms/s/search, and typing “2025-0156” into the search bar as well as subscribing to Docket No. 2025-0156.
