All-Staff Meeting and Training Support Employee Engagement, Growth and Well-Being

As part of our ongoing investment in our employees’ growth and well-being, the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) holds twice-a-year all-staff meetings to reinforce a culture rooted in respect and collaboration. The all-staff meeting and training Dec. 4 brought employees together for a full day of learning, connection and teamwork.
Since 2021, the PUC has held all-staff meetings to keep employees informed and engaged. The meetings enable commissioners, managers and staff to share recent accomplishments and recognize staff’s ongoing work that supports the organization’s mission.
PUC commissioners Naomi Kuwaye and Colin Yost gave remarks outlining their vision and the path forward as the state continues progress toward a 100% renewable energy future. Executive Officer Jodi Endo Chai highlighted PUC’s many successes throughout the year, achieved by the collective efforts of all employees. She also shared updates on recent employee engagement initiatives, including the launch of the employee intranet to streamline access to resources and the formation of the PUC Core Values Team, a staff‑led volunteer group dedicated to putting the PUC’s “TLCS” Core Values of Transparency, Leadership, Collaboration and Service into action.
In recent years, the PUC has expanded the meetings to include professional development and team-building activities. This year’s training focused on strengthening collaboration and deepening connections with coworkers. Facilitators led sessions on communication skills, emotional intelligence and the importance of intentional listening.
The all-staff meetings are a part of the PUC’s efforts to foster a thriving workplace, in support of the PUC’s Strategic Plan Goal 2, which focuses on building a workplace with strong employee engagement and meaningful leadership development.
