PUC Issues Order for Proceeding to Review Hawaiian Electric’s Wildfire Mitigation Plan
Posted on Jan 30, 2025 in AnnouncementsOn January 30, 2025, the Public Utilities Commission (“Commission”) issued Order No. 41531 instituting a proceeding to review Hawaiian Electric’s Wildfire Mitigation Plan (“WMP”) that was filed on January 10, 2025, in Non-Docketed Case No. 2023-04661. The Commission has determined that a formal docketed proceeding is necessary to evaluate whether the WMP aligns with the Commission’s guidelines and regulatory requirements and whether it is reasonably expected to reduce wildfire risk.
The Commission has named Hawaiian Electric and the Division of Consumer Advocacy as parties and encourages the public to file comments. Interested individuals or entities may file motions to intervene or participate within 20 days of this order. A public meeting will also be scheduled at a later date.
